Cubs descend on London

31 October 2015

On Saturday 24 November, 16 Thundridge Cubs, Leaders, Young Leaders and Pa1508209_440259276174849_3021070124135873232_nrents (including an American visitor!) took the train from Ware to London Liverpool Street.

On arrival at Liverpool Street, the Cubs used their mapping skills to find the direct route to the Sky Garden (well worth a visit) where we saw clear views of London and beyond from all points of the compass.  Once back on the ground the Cubs used their maps to find their way to the Monument.  They climbed the Monument counting all 311 steps up and 311 steps down, in case they weren’t the same!

After picnicking at the Tower of London beside the Thames in the rain, we met two more Americans – a Cub and his Dad.  Photos were taken and we then headed off to Th
e Tower Bridge Experience.  The Cubs found out why the bridge had been built and how it worked as well as spending some considerable time testing out the glass floors on the walkways.
We paid a brief visit to the gift shop before walking back across the bridge, via the ‘beach’, to Tower Hill tube station for the train back to Liverpool Street and home.
