Scout Sites & Description
Scoutbase is the UKs member website and in December 2005 got an overhaul. It contains everything from clipart to directories...A goldmine of imformation! Several images used on this website have come from this site.

This is the UK site for the general public with news and general information. The second link on the left is for leaders etc and includes policy changes, factsheet updates etc. |

http://www.scouting.outdoors.ltd.uk/ Outdoors is the Scout Association's retail arm. It's the place to visit for all manner of things from tents to ponchos. All stuff shown on the site can be brought in the Scout shop in Broadmeads.

http://www.scouts.org.uk/cms.php?pageid=124 Not a website as such but this link is included simply because it's the Scouting bi-monthly magazine and is essential reading. We'll get 2nd Ware mentioned in it one day! |

| |
www.wareanddistrictscouts.org.uk This site gives an overview of scouting in the area and shows the rurality of our district when you, look at the area covered. Visit occasionally to see 2nd Ware's achievements shown to a district audience.
www.hertfordshirescouts.org.uk This moves onto the next level from the district site and is a county view of course. Perhaps not as relevant to us as the district site it nevertheless includes us and we should try and get our group featured!

This is one of the many excellent sites that adults involved in Scouting (especially the programme side of things) can visit this site for ideas and inspiration.

This resource site from America is more concerned with craft projects (hence the entirely appropriate logo!).

web.ukonline.co.uk/scoutnotebook There's a lot of older Scout graphics which give this resource site a retro feel but the stuff on here is highly useable and one particularly interesting section is on surviving in the country. |
This is the Boy Scouts of America's equivalent to the UKs Scoutbase and is worth dipping into from time to time... |
This American site is one of the best resource sites available on the web. Not only does it contain the usual crafts, skills etc but it also has links to other countries' home pages. Worth a look. |
This site, to use a cliché, is by adults, for adults, and is, of course, another resource site. |
Our 2nd Ware (St. Mary's) website has been given a silver award by this website! A small but dedicated group of UK Scouters set this site up and it boasts the award scheme, free Scout website hosting and an excellent forum.See our award listing here |
Not technically a true Scouting site, this is the UK arm of the Badgers club which was set up to allow like minded individuals to trade Scouting badges with each other. |
This is a specialist Scout site which is dedicated to our founder, Baden-Powell. It is really well written and contains a lot of rare images. |

Non-Scout Sites & Description
Fish the home waters. Ware Online is all you need to know about Ware and more. Without it's webmaster's input our Scout website wouldn't be 'Ware' it is now. |
Ian west is the Epping based illustrator who has been doing 'Scouting' magazines cartoons ''Longer than he dares to admit''. See the variety in his work on his website...In particular seek out the trolley on the mountain cartoon... |
Name a scouter who wouldn't like to meet Ray!! The site, rather surprisingly, doesn't have loads of useable material on it but does have a wide selection of kit for sale and keeps you up to date on future TV appearances etc. there's also a link to Scoutbase on here. |
Exactly what you'd expect here. It covers all abilities from novice to expert with membership available. They are also happy to answer questions sent to them too. |
A Scouter once said that whilst a child is growing you don't need to spend big on kit. Where better to start? Not only does Milletts offer a fantastic range of outdoor stuff on our High street but if you show a warrant card (or a scouting scarf) it entitles you to 10% off shop purchases! |
If you own a decent compass, GPS etc then the chances are that it could be made by either Recta or Silva (below). The Recta site is better for the novice because it has a beginners link. |
The Silva site, as stated, doesn't have a novice bit but still boasts a fantastic range. |
